Senior Java Software Engineer

Established online media company looking for a senior java software engineer to create new, web-based, applications in an open and agile development environment. The qualified candidate will be responsible for building, deploying, measuring and scaling up successful businesses.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-motivated and flexible software engineer, who has a thorough understanding of the full software development life cycle with strong hands-on development experience, is passionate about user experience and can create commercial quality web products.

Responsibilities

  • Own development, launch, measures and maintenance of new web applications.
  • Participate in and contribute to the planning process for new projects and give input on specific technologies utilized to complete projects – then execute to plan.
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented, open business office environment using mix of best of breed open source and industry standard development tools.
  • Follow through with projects from concept/design, to launch and testing, to integration of successful prototypes into core business platform.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in web application development
  • 5+ years java framework experience (Spring, Hibernate, Tiles desired)
  • 5+ years experience working with a web server technology (Apache, Tomcat, etc.), including configuration, optimization & deployment
  • 5+ years experience with database design & development, including schemas, stored procedures and UDFs
  • Solid understanding of OOP principles & design
  • Expertise in MVC pattern, unit testing and domain driven design
  • Expert knowledge of the jQuery framework and related plug ins
  • Ability to interface and integrate with internal web services & 3rd party APIs
  • Solid understanding of version control strategies
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
